We saw so many great wedding trends in 2015 from suspended cakes and florals to food trucks. While many of these trends will continue into the new year, we’re excited to dive into the fresh new trends 2016 has in store for Indian weddings!
1. Letter decor
If you’re looking for a way to make a huge statement – letter decor is the way to go! The letters can be used to spell out the bride and groom’s names, a memorable saying or quote, or a special message to the guests. The letters can also serve as a unique substitute for a sweetheart table or backdrop!
2. Seating patterns
Gone are the days of reception halls filled with round tables of 10. Couples are starting to think outside the box when it comes to arranging the tables at their reception. There are many creative ways to maximize intimacy even with a large guest count. Patterns we see most often include a windmill shape, mix of rounds and rectangular tables, and clusters of tables with large floral arrangements in the middle.
3. Food stations instead of sit down dinners
We’ve already seen food stations supplementing dinner buffets, but what we’ll see more of this year are greater varieties of food stations which will eliminate a sit-down dinner altogether. This allows for couples to serve all their favorite cuisines and also gives guests an opportunity to mingle with everyone at dinner as opposed to only those at their table.
4. Glittery Stationery
Table linens, centerpieces, and backdrops have had quite a bit of shimmer over the past couple of years. Instead of keeping the sparkle for the wedding day alone, add it to your save the dates and invitations. If you love the idea of glittery stationery but aren’t comfortable committing to an entire card covered in glitter – you can use it on your table number cards or escort cards as a pop of sparkle to your big day.
5. Mirrors tables
Desserts play a huge role in the menu planning of a reception, so why not display them in a grand way! Have your dessert bites placed directly on a mirror table (the entire tabletop is one large mirror) for an absolutely contemporary yet elegant look. These tables don’t have to be limited to just your desserts, they would add a touch of glam to any display at your wedding – your Ganesh table, escort card table, or gift table.
